I consider myself a breakfast expert, having eaten it with relative consistency for the past 30 years (in addition to 3 years managing a breakfast restaurant, but that's less relevant). The Remington sandwich was the best breakfast sandwich I've EVER eaten. The warm, flaky challah bread, the spicy aioli with just the right amount of a kick, and the fresh sausage and eggs came together to make a magical experience with every bite. I can't imagine ever eating another breakfast sandwich from anywhere else, or if I am forced to, I know that it will not bring me the same joy that I was blessed with this morning. Now let's talk coffee. Yuzu and Coffee. Genius. I get weird looks from all of my family and friends for my coffee orders, but I received validation today in the form of the Yuzu Cold Brew Soda. The citrus from the Yuzu brings a refreshing jolt to the chocolatey cold brew coffee, and then they add in the soda for that last bit of bite that I didn't know I wanted but I now know that I needed. Bottom Line: If you're in Baltimore, Black Acres Roastery in R house is THE BEST place to wake up with. If you're not in Baltimore, then come here just to experience it. Note: I only got a photo of the coffee; I was unable to stop eating the sandwich long enough to take a picture of it.

I'm so happy Black Acres is here at Open Works! Excellent service, great coffee - lavender, vanilla latte is tasting and soothing, especially when it's paired with their frittata breakfast sandwich, with maple bacon and freshly baked English muffin (everything) ---- EPIC!!! I highly recommend this hip and modern coffee shop for those who want to be in a well lite creative space. The shop is right off Greenmount inside of the orange and white Open Works building. Park in visitors spot at the building or there's street parking on Greenmount and I felt very secure in the neighborhood.

I adore Black Acres Roastery. I've been ordering their beans for.... must be 3 years now?, with local delivery, and it's always a joy. The coffee is high quality and delicious, and being able to support a local business makes it even better. I recently went to their spot at R House, and Matt made me.... SOME kind of breakfast sandwich, with mushrooms and spinach, and it was absolutely delicious, as was the Marrakesh Morning drink. Absolutely perfect on a way-too-hot day.

Lovely service and great coffee. I live in Baltimore county and come all the way down here sometimes just because I really like this coffee shop. My one ask is if the owner could please consider offering more year round speciality coffee options.

Who would have known that an egg frittata with blueberry jam on a biscuit would be so DELICIOUS?! I came for the coffee but was delighted about that little sandwich. My coffee was excellent; I thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed to work for a little - the chairs and tables are not super conducive for staying long periods of time but I love the space generally, and think the building is super cool. They have a walk-up window too, which is nice. Oh, how could I forget the roastery?!!! I peeked through the window and thought the behind the scenes process was so dope! And the smell of freshly roasted coffee?! Cannot compare. Will certainly pop back here!

I have never been to this coffee shop but their Aponte Honey Colombia coffee beans sold at Trader Joe’s is one of the best coffee value prop in the market. Perfectly roasted - not dark to the point where oils start separating, delicious flavor , versatile for almost any kind of extraction (maybe with the exception of a French press). Very few “hipster” roasters brands and coffee shops live up to the hype. The consistency of the bean , roast, flavor profile is definite proof that Black Acres delivers hype and more substance to coffee lovers! If you’re reading this , Don’t change anything about the Colombia Honey Aponte - please!

Black Acre Roasters has been consistently excellent every single time I visit. The coffee is always top-notch, fresh, and full of flavor, and you can tell they truly care about quality. What really sets them apart, though, is the service—friendly, attentive, and dependable. It’s rare to find a spot that maintains this level of consistency, but Black Acre does it with ease. Whether it’s a quick morning stop or a relaxed afternoon visit, they always deliver a great experience. Highly recommend

Delicious and inclusive coffee shop with some pastries and teas as well. Loved the nitro cold brew and the croissant bagel!

Black Acres Roastery at Open Works in Baltimore is a gem for anyone serious about coffee and breakfast. Nestled at 1400 Greenmount Avenue, this spot combines artisanal coffee roasting with inventive, crave-worthy breakfast fare in a bright, creative space. From the moment you step in, the rich aroma of freshly roasted beans fills the air, offering a clear sign of the quality that awaits.

The breakfast offerings are outstanding, with the Remington sandwich standing out as an exceptional highlight. Imagine warm, flaky challah bread embracing perfectly cooked sausage and eggs, all elevated by a subtly spicy aioli that brings the right amount of heat. This sandwich doesn’t just satisfy hunger—it delivers a memorable, almost magical eating experience that lingers long after the last bite. Equally impressive is their frittata breakfast sandwich, featuring a harmonious blend of maple bacon and a freshly baked English muffin that perfectly complements soothing lavendar-vanilla latte, showcasing the shop’s flair for pairing flavors thoughtfully.

When it comes to beverages, Black Acres brings innovation and craftsmanship to the forefront. The Yuzu Cold Brew Soda is a prime example—citrus notes from the yuzu meld brilliantly with the deep chocolate undertones of cold brew coffee, topped off with a sparkling soda’s bite that refreshes and surprises. This is not your average coffee order; it's a refreshing twist that challenges the palate and delights in equal measure. For those who prefer something more classic yet equally refined, their latte selections and house-roasted beans deliver impeccable flavor with every sip, reflecting their long-standing commitment to quality.

Beyond the food and drink, Black Acres occupies a vibrant, hip spot at Open Works, a space that inspires creativity and community. Although the seating may not invite lingering all day, the environment is welcoming, secure, and ideal for a morning boost or a productive pause. The roastery viewing window adds a unique touch, connecting patrons to the craft behind their cup and highlighting the artisanal care invested in every batch.

In short, Black Acres Roastery at Open Works is much more than a coffee shop. It’s a destination where expertly roasted coffee meets thoughtfully crafted breakfast, wrapped in a modern and inviting atmosphere. Whether you're a local or just visiting Baltimore, this is the kind of place that makes mornings better—bright, bold, and utterly satisfying.
